
A Passion For Cooking: Una Offers Summer Culinary Workshops

FLORENCE, Ala. - Novice and experienced chefs alike are in for some tasty treats this summer as the ӣ culinary arts program offers a series of summer workshops. The series will kick off June 3 with Turning up the Heat, a workshop on grilling techniques, sauces, rubs, marinades and a variety of meats. Other one-evening workshops will focus on a variety of cuisines, including French, Italian, German, Mediterranean, Indian and Thai. A two-evening baking workshop will also be offered July 19-20. For younger chefs, the program will offer the three-day Lion's Den culinary camp for teens, grades 9-12, June 21-23 and a Culinary Boot Camp for Teens, grades 9-12, July 15. One-evening workshops range in cost from $40 to $55 per person. Package deals are available for five one-evening workshops for $225 or all seven for $275. The two-evening baking workshop is $125 per person, the three-day Lion's Den workshop for teens is $200, and the two-day Culinary Boot Camp for Teens is $100. All workshops will be taught at the UNA Culinary Center, located at the UNA East Campus, 1640 Tune Avenue in Florence.
