Heart 2 Heart

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in men and women in the United States each year. An estimated one in every seven US dollars spent on health care goes toward cardiovascular disease (CVD), totaling more than $300 billion in annual health care costs and lost productivity from premature death each year. Several modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease are well-known, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, smoking, obesity, inactivity, and unhealthy eating habits. Although treatments for hypertension and hyperlipidemia are very effective and relatively inexpensive, most people with these conditions do not have them under control.

Healthy UNA proudly offers Heart 2 Heart, a specialized sub-program under Roar for Wellness, made possible through a generous grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama. H2H is a targeted intervention initiative focused on the prevention of heart disease. It’s ultimate goal is to lower the risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease and reduce the client’s pre-disease potential. H2H consists of educating clients on cardiovascular disease and ways to combat its negative effects. The program offers educational sessions, health coaching, personal exercise prescription program (Exercise is Medicine), and biometric health screening. This comprehensive curriculum is designed to enhance participants' knowledge and skills, empowering them to improve both the quality and longevity of their lives.
